Its origin was at a depth of 10 kilometers, Bloomberg clarifies. These data were confirmed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC). There have been no reports of casualties or damage yet.
In June 2012, an earthquake of similar magnitude also shook northern Italy. Its epicenter was the city of Novi di Modena in Emilia-Romagna, where two previous tremors killed more than 20 people. More than 14,000 people fled their homes and at least €5 billion worth of damage was caused.
