Qualcomm and Apple have not always had a good relationship, as they faced legal problems over the supply of chips, as the apple company alleged that Qualcomm required it to pay excessive patent fees to purchase the chips. The companies settled their differences in 2019 and reached a long-term patent license agreement and a supply agreement.
Following the 2019 deal, Qualcomm acquired that it would supply only 20% of the modems in Apple’s smartphones that would be released this year, while Apple worked on their replacement.
