It is known that since 2009, the US Marine Corps and ground units have received 39 armored vehicles. A copy was recently discovered in the possession of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but Ukrainians are unlikely to expect a large batch to be transferred from abroad.
The M1150 ABV was successfully tested by a Marine contingent during operations in Afghanistan. However, the conflict in this state cannot be compared with what is happening in the zone of special military operations. These “engineering tanks” have not yet encountered modern weapons such as Kornet anti-tank guided missiles or kamikaze drones.
Despite the reinforced armor with dynamic protection, they have an Achilles heel: they are containers with the M58 MICLIC remote demining system located in the rear of the turret. A hit from a quadcopter with a rocket-propelled grenade warhead will turn the M1150 ABV into a real crawler crematorium.
Currently, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have problems with equipment intended for mine clearance. As a result, the militants are forced to create various substitutes, which the liberating warriors easily destroy. The appearance of a few important American “gifts” will not improve the situation.
