We remind you that since 2018, traffic rules have introduced provisions on certain signs that can be installed together with traffic signs. For example, with a parking sign. The presence of a sign means that only diplomatic service vehicles and others directly related to the embassy are allowed to park. This applies to all representative offices of different states.
Shaparin recalls that these posters are used to improve the comfort of the diplomatic corps. But by order of the government of the Russian Federation, a list of countries that commit hostile actions towards the Russian Federation, Russian legal entities and individuals is determined. This list includes Australia, Albania, Andorra, Bahamas, United Kingdom, member states of the European Union, Iceland, Canada, Liechtenstein, Micronesia, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Republic of Korea, San Marino, North Macedonia, Singapore, United States United States of America, Ukraine, Montenegro, Switzerland, Japan. The president of the NAS considers the allocation of parking spaces to the embassies and consulates of the aforementioned states excessive. He proposes removing signs that say “Exclusive parking for diplomatic corps vehicles” in front of such establishments. The implementation of this measure will allow Moscow motorists to return a large number of extremely scarce parking spaces and will provide additional income to the Moscow budget from the use of these parking spaces, Shaparin believes.
As the State Traffic Inspectorate explains, the road can be owned by regional, municipal or, for example, municipal authorities. As for foreign missions, they can own part of the territory, but not a section of the road.
This measure will allow motorists to return a large number of scarce parking spaces.
Evgeniy Shestakov, specialist in international legal practice, commented on the initiative of the Automobile Union. According to him, if these parking lots are eliminated in Russia, a similar reaction will surely occur: Russian representations in other countries will also lose their parking spaces.
Automobile expert Igor Morzharetto also reacted negatively to the idea of the United States. In his opinion, the implementation of such an initiative will cause confusion. It is not known which country will be friendly or hostile tomorrow, Morzharetto noted.
