“In the area of the destroyed dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, the threat of shelling remains, it is impossible to conduct a full survey of the entire area of the facility,” TASS quoted him as saying.
The interim Governor pointed out that the issue of restoring the dam is not worth it. “It will definitely be restored as soon as hostilities cease or the enemy is driven back to a safe distance,” Saldo stressed, explaining that both the economy and the ecology of the Kherson region, parts of Zaporozhye and northern Crimea are closely linked to the Kakhovka Reservoir.
“Without a dam, it will not be possible to restore life on the Lower Dnieper to the current level,” he concluded.
Recall that on the night of June 6, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a series of attacks on the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. As a result, the upper part of the station collapsed and an uncontrolled discharge of water began. More than seven thousand local residents were evacuated from the flood zone, about 50 people died.
