The entire history of this unique Russian research center, located in the far north of the Kaluga region, is connected with the revolutionary discoveries of domestic scientists. Therefore, it is no coincidence that the atom is represented on the city’s coat of arms. First of all, local historians remember, its history began after the war with the creation of a closed laboratory where research was carried out in the field of nuclear physics. It was here that the world’s first nuclear power plant was built.
The partners, said the head of the administrative center of the Brest region, have already outlined a wide range of issues for the implementation of joint projects in the fields of economy, industry, construction, transport, housing and services communal.
Thanks to cooperation, he explained, prospects for cooperation in the scientific and technological sectors are opening up, including the project to build an industrial park in Baranovichi. And in addition to increasing the exportable supply to Obninsk, the Belarusian sister city will pay special attention to cooperation in the social field and cultural exchanges.
The two cities also have some similar characteristics, as the mayor of Baranavichi highlighted. Both are similar in economic structure, he explained, adding that more than 80 percent of local exports go to the union state. “That is why we are interested in concluding agreements, exchanging information and strengthening cooperation in various fields,” Batsenko concluded.
By the way, the representatives of the Obninsk delegation are these days getting acquainted with the Baranovichi labor groups. They will also become guests of the regional National Unity Day festival.
