BdE estimates that 35 billion EU funds will reach the economy in 2023 and 2024

Date: July 27, 2024 Time: 05:21:53

The Bank of Spain has estimated the amount of user money corresponding to the NextGenerationEU European funds that will reach the end in Spain during the years 2023 and 2024 at 35,000 million euros, although these are figures involved “in enormous uncertainty.”

These are the words of the general director of Economy and Statistics of the Bank of Spain, Ángel Gavilán, during the presentation of the macroeconomic projections of the Spanish economy for the period 2023-2025, published this Tuesday by the entity, where he clarified that these estimates have no take into account the addendum to the recovery plan.

Gavilán explained that taking into account the information on the website launched by the Government of Spain – which includes all the calls -, in 2023 that amount would be around 15,000 million and in 2024 it would be “closer to 20,000 million euros “. “These amounts translate into an additional contribution to GDP of one percentage point in 2023 and between 1.3 and 1.4 percentage points in 2024.

The Commission points to more modest figures

Gavilán has insisted that these are estimates, since it must be taken into account that the calls appear on the website, but it is not known exactly when they are resolved or how long it takes for the money to reach the final beneficiary. The official figures from the European Commission, measured in terms of national accounts, point to more modest figures, amounting to 2.7 billion in 2021 and 5.7 billion in 2022.
