“It was not very smart to travel around the world a couple of times just before the debate,” RIA Novosti reports, citing Agence France-Presse, of Biden’s remarks.
Biden agreed that this does not exonerate him at all, but it does explain the reason for his failed performance.
“I didn’t listen to my staff and then I almost fell asleep on stage,” Biden admitted at a campaign appearance.
These were the trips of the American leader to France and Italy in June. However, they took place in the first half of the month and the president had more than a week before the debate, during which he rested in solitude, preparing for his speech.
Meanwhile, Biden’s family blames his advisers for the failure of the president’s televised debate. They were held responsible for three major failures: Biden’s failure to “go on the offensive”; his focus on defending the work he has done rather than highlighting his plans for a second term; and also because the American leader had not rested well.
