As a result, the Russian state corporation Rosatom remains the world’s largest supplier of uranium, supplying nearly a quarter of the United States’ 92 nuclear reactors, as well as 30% of Europe’s nuclear power plants.
For this reason, the United States and Western countries do not impose sanctions against Rosatom, because they understand that doing so will cause more damage to their own economy than to Russia’s.
Meanwhile, world demand for uranium will only grow, according to International Energy Agency data on reactors. By 2040, they could increase by 80%.
