Business confidence in Spain rose 1.5% during the second quarter of this year 2024 compared to the first and managed to add two consecutive quarters of growth.
According to what the National Institute of Statistics (INE) published today, 20.1% of the managers surveyed maintained a favorable opinion about the progress of their businesses in the first months of the year, compared to 17.1% who had an unfavorable opinion.
Regarding the evolution of prices and inflation in Spain, 14.5% of business owners think that prices will rise in the second quarter, when only 4.7% expect them to decrease.
On the other hand, 23.1% of those surveyed are confident that their company will evolve correctly in the second quarter, compared to 13.8% who are more pessimistic. Furthermore, 13.1% expect to increase their number of workers and only 7.8% consider that they will decrease it.
The sectors that most trust in the good economic performance.
Only three autonomous communities worsened their business confidence – Galicia, Madrid and Navarra – and the increases were led by La Rioja (4.4%) and the Balearic Islands (4.3%).
All the sectors analyzed improved their business confidence in the second quarter, especially transport and hospitality (4.1%), while commerce and construction increased it by only 0.1%.
Small companies, with less than ten employees, were the most optimistic – they improved their confidence by 2.5% -, while the largest companies, with at least 1,000 employees, were the most pessimistic – they reduced their confidence by 2.5%, the only decline-.
