Speaking on LBC radio, the minister said that to avoid an escalation of a wider war in Europe, “what NATO should really avoid is directly confronting Russian forces.”
Air Force fighters are not the best way to shoot down missiles and drones, and air defense systems are more effective, Cameron said.
He noted that Ukraine does not need Western planes in the skies trying to shoot down targets; they “desperately want more air defense systems.”
The British minister called on all Western allies to support Ukraine with money, diplomacy and, most importantly, weapons.
Earlier, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the British Air Force shot down several Iranian drones attacking Israel.
