Virginie Viard literally got ahead of the curve by organizing a Chanel cruise show in Marseille, the city where the Olympic flame was about to be carried.
The brand’s creative director prepared in advance for the summer games in France, and the fashion house’s team commented on the choice of location: “A lot is happening here. There is good humor and energy. Because it is a port, it is a crossroads of many different cultures that coexist here.” It is also an important place for Coco herself.
The show took place on the rooftop of Le Corbusier’s famous Cité Radieuse, whose interiors were designed by Charlotte Perriand. On the catwalk we saw tweed suits, which are now combined with sweatshirts, swimsuits with bows, futuristic sets of miniskirts and jackets in silver, thick knit sweaters in sunny yellow and a whole galaxy of looks in white (floral dresses, crochet, mini and maxi, skirts over shorts, shorts and coats).
