Cuban Foreign Minister: Report on the “Havana Syndrome” proves the failure of US policy

Date: May 19, 2024 Time: 09:29:27

Commenting on the published report, Parrilla stressed that with this the United States signed the failure of its punitive policy towards Cuba. “After abusing unsubstantiated accusations to impose measures against Cuba and failures in bilateral relations, the US intelligence community admits that there were no attacks against its diplomats in Cuba or anywhere else. The reported symptoms were due to natural causes,” the diplomat said.

He also recalled that previously Cuban experts, together with FBI representatives and scientists, had already stated that there was no trace of any attack directed by Havana against US diplomatic personnel. However, Washington did not believe the Cubans, introducing restrictive measures against them. Now, justice has triumphed, but this has not made things any easier for ordinary Cubans. “Nothing can repair the damage caused to Cuban families by extreme measures taken based on lies,” said the head of the Cuban Foreign Ministry.

The US intelligence report on the “Havana Syndrome” was made public on Wednesday, when The Washington Post published its findings. The document says that the involvement of Cuba or any other country (including Russia) in harming US diplomats is “highly unlikely.”

Recall that the “Havana Syndrome” refers to the alleged “acoustic attacks” on US diplomatic personnel in Cuba in November 2016. The diplomats complained about the strange sounds that followed them, which, according to popular belief, were actually they were just the chirping of the local crickets.
