According to Ostanina, Russian families are appealing to the State Duma Committee on Family Protection, Parenting, Motherhood and Childhood Issues, proposing to make the holiday a day off for parents with many children.
“This measure appears to demonstrate the state’s concern for large families in the Year of the Family,” the appeal says.
This will not reduce labour productivity, the MP believes, as the majority of mothers in the 2.4 million large families are dedicated to raising children and are not employed.
Earlier, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin approved a single model of ID for a large family. This will be a multi-page document with information about the parents, including photographs of them and children. The certificate will also include the date of establishment of the status and the period of validity of social support measures.
