Yolanda Díaz, leader of Sumar and current acting Minister of Labor and Social Economy, has confirmed to the King her support for the investiture of Pedro Sánchez to maintain a government in coalition with the Socialists, although she says she “respects” the possibility of that the formation of the government can fall first on Alberto Núñez Feijóo, although he believes that it will be a failed attempt because the PP does not have sufficient support.
In the press conference in Congress after speaking with the King in Zarzuela, Yolanda Díaz expressed her respect for the powers of the State and the decisions that can be adopted regarding the commission of the investiture. “Absolute respect for the decision that the Head of State makes and we will scrupulously respect the will of the King”, she guaranteed.
In his opinion, if Feijóo wants to get ahead by running as a candidate, it is because the PP is “in crisis” since the fall of Pablo Casado, but the reality is that he is “alone” and without allies, as was seen in the constitutive session when choosing the Table of Congress, and that hypothetical investiture of Feijóo would be “a failure”. “In view of the facts, Mr. Feijóo is more alone than ever, he has no chance of forming a government, he has no numbers, no allies,” he summarized.
Absences make it impossible to compare Sánchez’s support
His bet continues to be a “progressive” coalition government between PSOE and Sumar, for which his support for Pedro Sánchez is advancing, and he sees a real possibility of reaching an agreement between the progressive formations as they are seen at the table in Congress, after a negotiation that “will not be easy” because, today, the positions are far apart. Of course, he admits that the King is not going to listen to all the formations and that “the absence of some forces prevents frequent comparisons with Sánchez’s support”, alluding to ERC, Bildu and Junts, who have been deleted from the round of Audiences in Zarzuela.
Diaz demands the resignation of Rubiales
Yolanda Díaz has insisted on demanding the resignation of the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, for the kiss to the player Jenni Hermoso and has called for “compliance” with the Sports Law and to activate the protocols of the Federation on sexist acts to force his departure from office.
“We continue to ask for the resignation of Rubiales, who has harassed and assaulted a woman.
