In the final match of the up to 54 kg category, Dvali defeated Frenchman Billal Benham.
Dmitry Dvali: As a winner, I can finally say hello to everyone who supported me. And I have a great support group: parents, family, siblings, coaching staff. We all did it together.
Can we say that we have taken revenge for the offensive bronze medal at the World Championships in Tashkent?
Dmitry Dvali: I wouldn’t say it’s a revenge. There was an Uzbek, here a Frenchman, who woke up with a different weight. He didn’t do anything wrong to me, except that he got in the ring with me. But we did our job. This is my first European Championship. I’m very happy.
Was it difficult to maintain such a frenetic pace in the final battle?
Dmitry Dvali: Very difficult. The rival surprised us. He usually runs away, travels, works as number two. And then he moved on. But we were prepared for this. The result is obvious.
What will change when you win the European title?
Dmitry Dvali: Nothing, we continue working. Now we go to the World Cup. This victory was one of the steps. God willing, we will win another gold.
