A heart-stopping weekend for one of the biggest names in Artificial Intelligence globally, which is called to lead this market. The board of OpenAI, owner of ChatGPT, suddenly fired its CEO, Sam Altman, due to what they understood as a “lack of trust.” The internal struggle between him and Ilya Sutskever, another of the company’s co-founders, ended up blowing up. In 48 hours of many negotiations and movements, part of the company’s management team attempted to have Altman return, but it was finally not carried out due to the refusal of the administrative body. The way out: Microsoft, a large tech client and very relevant shareholder, signs him to advance AI research.
The new CEO of the company is Emmett Shear, an old acquaintance of the technology sector and Silicon Valley. He served as CEO of Twitch until March of this year. He was a partner in one of the most relevant accelerators in the sector, Y Combinator, where he met Altman himself. He defines himself as a ‘techno-optimist’.
