The president of the FCC Group, Esther Alcocer Koplowitz, has been awarded the Business Leader of the Year Award at the 2023 Líderes La Información Awards in recognition of more than a decade leading the reins of one of the largest business groups in our country and playing a essential role in maintaining the company’s course towards a good direction during a period that has been key and in the reconversion of the company towards digitalization and the challenge of the ‘green’ economy.

With the businesswoman at the head of the group, the company has strengthened its international expansion and has reinforced its presence in the United Kingdom, Portugal and countries in central and eastern Europe. It has also done so on the other side of the pond, where it has entered the US market, with a presence in California, Texas, Florida, Nebraska and Iowa. During this period, the company has also intensified its services at a national level, which It has allowed him to win new contracts in Madrid, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Valencia or Bilbao, among others.
In her speech, the president wanted to dedicate the award to her mother, Esther Koplowitz, from whom she learned that “kindness, courage, generosity and resilience are values that go hand in hand with the leadership of companies.” Values on which she has relied to “maintain the course” that her mother took and to which she has clung to “cope with the difficulties and such a changing environment.”
Its more than one hundred and twenty years of history have made FCC a world leader in environmental services, water, infrastructure, real estate management and the cement sector. Now, the group faces its future with a clear commitment to sustainability and its contribution to the sustainable development goals to address economic, social and environmental challenges on a global scale.
Along these lines, FCC has managed to establish a successful model when it comes to making economic activity compatible with concern for the environment. Its subsidiary Aqualia has become the first water company in Spain, and is expanding its presence to other key geographies such as Egypt, Colombia, France, Saudi Arabia and Georgia.

Esther Alcocer Koplowitz has received one of the three awards awarded tonight at the event held at the Rafael del Pino Auditorium in Madrid. She has also been awarded as Leader in Innovation to the president of Indra, Marc Murtra, for his commitment to innovation and the most advanced technology in a very complicated international market. The Leader of the Year Award in Sustainable Investment goes to Cepsa, which on behalf of its CEO, Maarten Wetselaar, has received the award for turning Spain into a green power that leads the fight against climate change.
