It was prepared by the “Light of Valaam” Charitable Foundation together with the St. Petersburg branch of the Committee of Families of Soldiers of the Fatherland (KSVO). This was reported by the monastery’s press service.
Three such races, each with up to two dozen people, are expected to be held between May and August. All of them are from the Northern capital and the Leningrad region.
– The main goal of the project is to provide families of SVO participants with the opportunity to receive mental and spiritual peace, redirect their attention to positive emotions and relieve emotional and psychological stress. It is hoped to achieve this by holding various events in the Valaam archipelago and directly on the territory of the monastery, noted Mikhail Shishkov, executive director of the foundation.
It should be noted that the monastery already had excellent experience in providing psychological support. Two years ago, within the framework of the “Valaam Island of Discovery” project, children and adolescents who found themselves in difficult life situations were received here.
The program “Valaam. Island of Transfiguration” also includes unusual excursions that are not included in the standard programs for pilgrims and tourists. For example, it is planned to visit one of the most beautiful corners of the archipelago – Divnaya Bay, which seems to have been created in order to sit on the shore and watch the waves. You can admire it for hours.
As for the master classes, they include art therapy and willow basket weaving.
