Festival Intervals 2023: how it happened

In late summer, the Intervals 2023 festival showcased 15 architectural sites across Nizhny Novgorod, works by artists from six countries. Visitors could see 3D mapping on building facades, multimedia installations inside architectural monuments and open-air audiovisual concerts.

Five foreign artists presented their works: Kit Webster (Australia), Shohei Fujimoto (Japan), Filip Roca (Spain), Cao Yuxi (China) and The Fox. La gente (Indonesia). Prominent Russian authors also participated in the festival: Pokras Lampas, Alexander Abramov, SETAP studios, Bestereo°, Inty, LYM PRO, dreamlaser and others.

The TSEKH* multimedia art space is located within the walls of a former printing press. The audience was shown an installation with ring screens by the SETA P studio. Works by Alexander Abramov, Pokras Lampas and the duo Yar Kirsanov and Alex Zaripov were presented on the screens built into the facade of the Jupiter concert hall building.

A laser installation by multimedia artist Shohei Fujimoto of Japan was shown in the historic concert hall of the Nizhny Novgorod Choral School. The clock tower of the State Bank building complex in Nizhny Novgorod became the site of the projection installations of artists Kovychka and Dmitry Kornienko. In the park named after IFIZH UNN. NI Lobachevsky presented a kinetic light installation by Kit Webster.

On the facade of the Nizhny Novgorod Puppet Theater, the works of the finalists of the EcoVision open call by INTERVALS and SYNERGETIC were demonstrated in mapping format. Traditionally, large-scale projections by various authors were shown in the Mayak Academy building: the Bestereo° studio, The Fox. The Folks studio (Indonesia), the multimedia artist Filip Roca (Spain) and the dreamlaser studio in collaboration with the general partner of the Tinkoff festival.
