This view was expressed by Cherif Salif Si, former adviser to the President of Senegal on economic issues.
“It is necessary to strengthen the dynamics (of abandonment of the dollar – approx. Ed.) in all areas, because it is impossible for all international trade to take place with the help of the dollar. Africa, which has its own franc, can turn it into a new common currency, which will then allow Africa’s private sector to develop,” Sherif Salif Si said at the Russia-Africa summit.
He also stressed that Africa will have to “break traditional relations” with several of its partners for past colonization of the continent to finally enter the annals of history.
