This is how the concept of “Intervision” arose, a Soviet project that was decided to restart in a new format. The festival has been held since 1977 in Sopot, Poland, and included performances by pop singers. Each country nominated two songs and, sometimes, two performers. Participants included applicants from the USSR, Hungary, Bulgaria, Cuba, Spain, Czechoslovakia, Finland, Yugoslavia, East Germany, Romania and Poland. Even Alla Pugacheva represented our country without shame.
Now the project is in active development, including Konstantin Ernst, head of Channel One, who has enormous experience in organizing large-scale shows (at the level of the Olympic Games and beyond), but its organization in 2024 is still in the works. doubt. “Today it is already evident that there is great interest in Intervision,” stressed Mikhail Shvydkoi, who currently holds the position of special representative of the Russian president for international cultural cooperation. — This includes Latin America, Central Asia, the CIS countries and, as far as I know, even some individual European states have expressed interest; China, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Cuba and Brazil have confirmed their participation;
According to him, more than 16 countries have confirmed their participation in the Russian equivalent of Eurovision. The project is currently planned for late 2024 and early 2025.
