Geely unveiled a new Galaxy brand and showed off the first two KXan models 36 Daily News

Date: March 28, 2024 Time: 17:42:31

The Galaxy lineup will consist of two subfamilies: the electric Geely Galaxy Smart Pure Electric E, which includes the Galaxy E6, E7 and E8, and the Geely Galaxy Smart Hybrid L series: L5, L6, L7, L9. At Geely, the price range for future new products was indicated: more than 150 thousand yuan, but less than 300 thousand.

The models are based on the new Geely architecture, which incorporates all the advantages of existing platforms (SPA, CMA, SEA) and has received a number of new solutions. For example, the Aegis battery safety system, according to Geely engineers, is devoid of almost all the shortcomings that can lead to a battery fire.

For hybrids, a new Raytheon (NordThor) 8848 engine with an efficiency of 44.26% is announced, and Geely has already started its evolutionary version with a coefficient of more than 46%. A three-stage hybrid installation allows the Galaxy L7 crossover to accelerate to 100 km / h in 7.5 seconds – this is the data from the press release, and on the presentation slide there was a different figure – 6.9 seconds. The maximum speed is 200 km/h. The fuel consumption figures are 5.23 liters per “hundred”, and the full range reaches 1370 km.

Since we mentioned the capabilities of the Galaxy L7, we will dwell on the crossover in more detail. Its length is 4700 mm, width is 1905 mm, height is 1685 mm. Wheelbase size – 2785 mm. The design philosophy was called Geely Light, and maximum work has been done on the lighting elements.

The taillights of the crossover look especially impressive. Note that Geely has abandoned the fashionable hidden door handles in favor of conventional ones. This decision is justified by safety and a far-sighted approach to operating in regions with subzero temperatures, where when the weather changes, the recessed handles can simply freeze and not slip.

The salon cannot be called sophisticated, but it is undeniable that they tried to digitize it as much as possible. The dashboard is fully digital, on a 10.25-inch screen. In the center a 13.2-inch tablet is installed. There is also a screen in front of the front passenger, its diagonal is 16.2 inches. For convenience and safety, a 25.6-inch heads-up display is provided.

The center tunnel is free of the transmission selector and any controls: the functions of the first are performed by the steering column lever, and everything else is done through multimedia, which understands voice commands and runs on the Latest Galaxy N OS. Galaxy N OS is powered by the Qualcomms Snapdragon 8155 chip and has the fastest boot time in its class at just half a second.

Autonomous driving capabilities meet international L3 standards, but by 2025, Geely Holding Group will complete the launch of satellites, which will significantly expand the capabilities of the system.

The Galaxy L7 crossover will be released in the second quarter of 2023, the L6 will appear in the third, but the electric Galaxy E8 will have to wait until the fourth quarter. Unsurprisingly, the fastback with a sloped roof turned out to be just a concept: with oddly opening doors, an almost entirely glass roof, a reconnaissance drone hidden in the trunk lid, illuminated wheels and an interior ” galactic”.

Also in 2024 the Galaxy E6 (Q3), Galaxy E7 and L5 (Q2) will be launched, the larger hybrid Galaxy L9 will appear in 2025.
