Grand Prix Semi-Final: How much prize money does the winning town receive?

Date: July 27, 2024 Time: 07:04:12

The great return of the Grand Prix on television faces its final phase. Tonight, August 21, 2023, the semifinals will begin, which will be played by a total of four towns willing to win a place in the final of the contest. On this occasion, Tineo (Asturias) and Aguilar de Campoo (Plasencia) will compete on TVE’s La 1 at 10:30 p.m. in the first semifinal for a place in the last program, where they will fight to become champions and get a financial prize.

Of the eight participating towns in this new season of the Grand Prix, the two that manage to reach the grand final will compete for the 30,000 euro prize in a grand final that will put the finishing touch on the return of the contest to television. In this way, the money that the winner will receive falls compared to the initial prize, which in 1995 was 6,000,000 pesetas (36,000 euros).

In total, four qualifying programs have been carried out and, in each of them, two municipalities have faced each other in different tests, accumulating the maximum possible points. Now the 2023 Grand Prix will take over the final rounds with two semi-finals and a grand final taking place next in 15 days.

Tests and games of the Grand Prix 2023

With its return to the small screen, the Grand Prix faces what is its 15th season. The historic television program, which this time does not have its emblematic heifer but continues with Ramón García at the helm, will feature some of the mythical games such as Troncos Locos, Bowling (now Superbolos), Dictionary, Hot Potato and Basketball in Honeycombs.

However, it will also add new tests such as a ramp that will be hooked at two heights to play La Nursery and Climb as You Can, two gymkhanas in which the Dinosaur will be present; a turntable for Alice in Caidillas Country; Los Ki-monos, an aerial gymkhana above the pool; giant fans in the Pilot Dog and, finally, if someone misses Las Manos… they will return in the form of penguins. The town that gets the most points in these tests will have the chance to win the final prize of 30,000 euros.

Among the novelties, the participation of the streamer Cristinini and the actress Michelle Calvó stands out. In addition, it is added with great size, the Niko Dinosaur. This new character will be in the gymkhanas and in some of the games bothering the players before finishing the test and interacting with Ramón, Michelle and Cristinini. We will see him as both a dinosaur and a dragon, according to the test.
