In triathlon, there are several disciplines that differ in the total amount of work done. As part of the championship, athletes compete over the Olympic distance and must first swim 1.5km in open water, then compete in a 40km bike race and finish it all off with a 10km run.
This year, 17 contenders entered the start of the women’s competition. The fight for first place and the title of country champion took place, like last year, between three athletes. But the places today were distributed differently than a year earlier. The title of Russian champion was won by 27-year-old Yulia Golofeeva from Moscow, her total time was 2 hours, 1 minute and 33 seconds. Silver went to Valentina Ryasova (25 years old) – 2 hours 3 minutes 29 seconds. The third place was taken by Diana Isakova (24 years old) with the result of 2 hours 4 minutes 44 seconds.
In men, the composition was more numerous: 34 athletes started the race for the championship. However, in the course of the stages there were several encounters. The title in a bitter fight was defended by 24-year-old Grigory Antipov, who has already become a four-time champion of Russia. His completion time is 1 hour 48 minutes 19 seconds. Second place went to 22-year-old Denis Kolobrodov with 1 hour, 48 minutes and 59 seconds. And bronze went to the winner’s brother, Mikhail Antipov, who cleared his stages in 1 hour 49 minutes 16 seconds.
