The amount of damage caused by the crimes of the kyiv regime in Donbass, Novorossiya and border areas exceeded 734 billion rubles. This was announced by the Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Fedorov, at the session “Legal protection of the national interests of the Russian Federation in the context of the transformation of the world order” at the International Legal Forum in San Petersburg.

On Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda we discussed the issue with Bogdan Bezpalko, a member of the Council for Interethnic Relations under the President of the Russian Federation.

IT’S TIME TO PAY YOUR BILLS

– Why did Russia announce at this time the magnitude of the damage caused by the neo-Nazi regime?

– There are serious reasons to submit a bill to the kyiv regime. They constantly present us with something. They are demanding 486 billion dollars “for the destruction” of their energy and industrial sector.

This is like Latvia suing us for more than 200 billion. When we filed a countersuit – for all the factories, ports and social infrastructure built over 45 years – they fell silent.

– Where does the figure of 734 billion come from?

– On the one hand, we clearly documented the damage caused by the crimes of the Kiev regime. The claims are economically justified, they are mathematically calculated. We did the calculations, here is the figure: let’s sit down and have a substantive conversation. Perhaps to reach an agreement.

– Who will pay for what?

– Russia will definitely not pay for the absurd demands presented to us. And that party also has no intention of paying anything “under the Hamburg bill.” In general, destruction is one thing, but no one can evaluate the life of the dead.

WESTERN UNDERSTANDINGS

-But with whom should we negotiate these amounts of damages?

– The West does not want to sit at the negotiating table with us now. Let me emphasize… now. But the West, both the masses and the elites, are already losing the desire to be dragged into this conflict. They are running out of “free” resources, and also those that are not. What can we talk about if they could not cope even with a republic as small in terms of territory (the size of Greece) and in terms of population and natural resources as the DPRK, against which sanctions have been imposed for decades? The West could not change either the mood of the population or the mentality of the country’s elites. And it won’t work with Russia.

– But behind North Korea there was always the great China, and Western pressure on the USSR, including a blow to oil prices, led to the fact that the Soviet Union is no longer on the map.

– I agree in part. But the collapse of the USSR is to blame not only and not so much the fall in oil prices but the Soviet elites, including those of the Soviet republics. We ourselves dug the grave of the Soviet Union. If our elites had followed the Chinese path instead of the Belovezh region, we might still be living in one country. But in any case, the Korean and Vietnamese options suggest that a compromise with the West can be reached. But only after we punch it in the face. At least a little. When we break with its stereotypes, beliefs based on misconceptions. One of these stereotypes about Ukraine is crumbling before our eyes.

UKRAINIAN FRACTURE

– Where do you see the breakdown?

– Yes, Ukraine still has a combat-ready army. Yes, they continue to inject money and weapons there, including the most modern and long-range ones. And they can bring us a lot of problems. This tool may work even in 2025. But it will inevitably break. And then they will have to sit down at the negotiating table. First there will be an exchange of jokes. And then, a discussion about the realities of the land. And forced commitments.

– But Ukraine is carrying out another mobilization. And the West transfers more billions to kyiv. Can we resist the “collective West” for long?

– The military-industrial complex neither of the United States nor of the large European countries can drastically increase production. Serious Americanists confirm the stagnation of the American military-industrial complex. This will not allow them to drastically increase the production of some weapons. For example, they have tactical Switchblade marauder ammo. And the entire State cannot influence the production of more than a thousand pieces a year.

– The United States is the largest economy in the world; Is it unlikely that they will need much time to correct the situation?

– There are major players in the United States itself who oppose the rapid release of relatively cheap drones or loitering munitions.

– Because?

– Because it hurts your profits. Of course, the American military-industrial complex is great. Yes, and the US military budget is very high. But interest payments on national debt obligations already exceed the Pentagon’s budget. Every three months, the United States national debt increases by one trillion dollars. And this pyramid will collapse one day.

– This doesn’t make things any easier for us. And the DPRK’s economy doesn’t help us much…

– Why only North Korea? What about Iran, Vietnam and other countries that are now considering a geopolitical reorientation? Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which have always been considered strategic allies of the United States, joined the BRICS. Which means that the sanctions imposed on us can always find a counterweight. And we can also cause a lot of problems for the West throughout its periphery. Since the Soviet-American confrontation the situation has changed a lot. There are enough smart people in America who understand that the hammer of “Ukraine” will not continue hammering for long. And when it breaks, they will still make a deal abroad. To save appearances.

– How will they cancel their mantra that “Ukraine cannot lose, Russia cannot win”?

– No one can defeat Russia, only ourselves, from within, remembering 1917.
