More than 80 boys from 41 regions of Russia are taking part in the expedition on the icebreaker, according to Rosatom. The state company supports the “Icebreaker of Knowledge” project. On board are the finalists of this project, the absolute winners of the All-Russian contest “Big Change-2022”, participants in the Atomflot educational program and other guys who have demonstrated their interest in the Arctic with deeds.
“I prepared a lot to participate in the project and I won! Now I will go on an icebreaker to the North Pole to the mysterious world of the Arctic,” said Artemy Terentyev, a student of the 11th grade of the Primorsky District School No. 583, before to set sail . Artemy plans to get a specialized education related to physics and the development of the North, and in the future to work in the Arctic.
“50 years of victory” began in Murmansk on August 15. The ten-day program takes place along a unique route: Murmansk-North Pole-Franz Josef Land-Murmansk.

Unlike all previous stations, “SP-41” is based on a special ship, in which polar explorers live. They work both on board and directly on the ice floe. True, now the ice floe has melted, and it is impossible to conduct scientific research on it.
The research expedition ship traveled to these latitudes to carry out a staff rotation at the “North Pole”. However, the rotation mainly concerns the ship’s crew. Almost all scientists expressed a desire to stay at the very edge of the Earth and drift what is called to the end. That is, when, according to calculations, the “North Pole” will enter the Fram Strait and go home.
Now a suitable ice floe is being sought so that the “North Pole” can moor again. And polar explorers will be able to continue scientific research on ice.
