The acting Minister of Culture and Sport, Miguel Iceta, announced this Thursday that the Higher Sports Council (CSD) will bring before the Sports Administrative Court (TAD) the action of the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, in the World Cup final.
“Next week the CSD is going to notify the TAD of the presentation of various complaints,” he said in statements on the ’24 horas’ channel collected by Europa Press.
Likewise, Iceta has described FIFA’s decision to open a file on Rubiales “in the face of unacceptable and serious events” as “logical”. “It is normal for sports institutions to open a file and rule on it. I expected it to happen any day and it was today,” he assured.
This Thursday, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has announced that it will open a “disciplinary procedure” against Luis Rubiales for the events that occurred during the final of the Women’s World Cup, in reference to the kiss on the lips of the Spanish player Jenni Hermoso during the medal ceremony . as tournament champions.
In this sense, Iceta has pointed out that “you cannot force a person, not even receive a congratulation in this way” and that “a kiss on the mouth is not a hug”.
“What we want is that, unequivocally, the highest representation of Spanish football tells Spanish society that it is going to defend women’s rights, that it is going to promote equality and that it is not going to tolerate unacceptable behaviour. How to do it? That has to be decided by the Assembly itself”, he pointed out in reference to the extraordinary assembly of the RFEF that will take place this Friday.
