In 2023, Amurstal is not going to slow down: the volume of rolled products is planned to increase to 400 thousand tons. Until recently, these indicators seemed unattainable. The most surprising thing is that they achieved them in a difficult global geopolitical situation.
“We accepted all the challenges of the time, restructured ourselves based on rapidly changing conditions and adapted to them,” says Grigory Freidin, CEO of Amurstal LLC. – We can say that the plant has overcome these difficulties. We are working and standing confidently.
In 2022, the company carried out enormous preparatory work, thanks to which it was possible to draw a development vector for the coming years. Particular attention was paid to the restructuring of production chains and the optimization of processes. Most of Amurstal’s products have always been exported. But now, when the world market for steel semi-finished products (cast billets) has undergone significant changes, the plant’s potential has largely been reoriented towards consumption within our country. Russian companies have demand for laminated products and higher degrees of processing. They bet on him. Reaching record levels is a consequence of this decision.
In previous years Amurstal carried out a major modernization of the steel plant and now the changes have affected rolling production. A project for the construction of a new profile rolling mill is in the preparation phase. It will allow the plant to close a vacant niche in high-quality product profiles.
– At the same time, the existing long rolling shop will be expanded, which meets its functionality. Three stages of modernization have already been carried out in this workshop and this year the fourth began: the automation of the product packaging section. The project should be implemented in 2024, says Grigory Freidin.
The plant is considering the possibility of further increasing the volume of long products.

By the way, the company has already opened independent divisions in Khabarovsk, Vladivostok and Sakhalin. There are plans to enter the Amur region and Yakutia, while the economic feasibility of this step is calculated.
One of the plant’s priorities is environmental safety. To protect the environment, modern production is equipped with a multi-circuit gas cleaning system. Allows you to capture harmful substances and reduce the maximum permissible concentration to the required level. This system includes a smoke extraction group, gas ducts, cyclones, a refrigeration unit, as well as a filter unit with 7392 bag filters. Hoses provide maximum gas purification, which is confirmed by certificates and relevant opinions of independent commissions.
Now Amurstal has implemented a project to take advantage of the so-called uncontrolled emissions that come out of the exhaust tract. In June-July of this year, a series of measures were carried out that allowed these uncontrolled emissions to be significantly reduced.
At the company, not only the production itself and the environmental safety system have been modernized on a large scale. It was possible to achieve great changes in improving working conditions.
“This affected first of all the increase in salaries: for example, in 2022 they increased on average by 20 percent compared to the value of 2021,” underlines Grigori Freidin.
Amurstal has many social programs. As part of the Portavita Health corporate health program, the company’s employees undergo a comprehensive medical examination. In addition, they receive compensation for the cost of travel to the vacation spot and back once every two years, a reimbursement of 75 percent of the cost of trips to children’s summer camps in the city and region, a one-time payment for birth. of a child and a monthly payment if an employee of the plant is on maternity leave for a child from 1.5 to three years old. Employees have free access to the sports complex and the Metallurg pool, delivery to the plant and return (for remote areas) by corporate transport. For some categories of employees, the plant reimburses part of their preschool tuition and helps them prepare their children for school.
Young people with especially in-demand professions who come to the company receive subsidies: specialists – 100 thousand rubles, workers – 80 thousand. And experienced employees who take on the role of mentors receive a monthly supplement. This mechanism allows you to quickly and effectively transfer the accumulated knowledge to newcomers.
Professional skills competitions are held annually, in which each employee has the opportunity to prove his worth. The bonus is a cash reward for winners and runners-up based on results. The involvement of employees in the continuous improvement process also plays an important role. The plant has launched an ideas bank to which more than 150 proposals have already been submitted. The total economic effect of them is more than 29 million rubles, and the perpetrators received about half a million rubles as material compensation.
Amurstal employees focus on unity and teamwork. And this is a very important condition to solve the major problems that the plant faces today.

In August 2023, the competition commission of the All-Russian Exporter of the Year award determined the winners in the Far Eastern Federal District.
