Only the most remote Russians have not heard about the Games series this summer, dedicated to the 1980 Olympics, which Kinopoisk started promoting almost six months ago. Meanwhile, new episodes of the melodrama are being released on the platform, and Channel One has launched its own project about the same Games in Moscow. True, it is adapted to the modern context.

The series “Clean Hands” directed by Dmitry Gaityan (“Clean Hands”, “Divorced Women”) tells the story of the confrontation between special services during the 1980 Olympics in Moscow. This is not a pure spy thriller, but the story of the struggle of agents, through the prism of the lives of four main characters – ordinary Soviet guys: Zhora Nechaev (Evgeny Syrkin), Lesha Lopatin (Evgeny Antropov), as well as two beauties Marina (Alexandra Nikiforova) and Vika (Kristina Shelobkova).

The young men grew up in the same courtyard, trained as nuclear physicists, but by the will of fate (and of “Western partners”) they were drawn into the intrigues of the intelligence services that were breaking out behind the facade of a world event – the 1980 Olympic Games. Maneuvering between foreign intelligence officers and brave KGB officers, the main characters find themselves on opposite sides of the barricades. And each of them takes responsibility for the decision taken.

In addition to young artists, the series also features experienced artists: Sergey Ugryumov, Oleg Vasilkov, Ekaterina Volkova, Alexey Ashurkov and others. People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Aristarkh Livanov played Antropov, who was very similar to the head of the KGB (at that time) Yuri Andropov.
The project is available on First’s website and in the channel’s special online cinema.
