It should be noted that before starting work, the experts analyzed the ventilation and fire protection of the mine. On the face of it, preventive measures were also taken to ensure safety against endogenous fires during cleanup operations.
“All Listvyazhnoy personnel have done everything possible to ensure that the 824 longwall and the mine as a whole meet all industrial safety requirements,” said mine director Viktor Anufriev.
Let us remember that in November 2021 a methane explosion occurred in the mine of the Gramoteino workers’ settlement. There was fire and thick smoke. At that time, 285 miners were underground. Before the change of miners, the devices alerted the direction of a possible danger. But the miners were sent to work anyway.
The explosion killed 51 people and injured 76. According to Rostekhnadzor, the accident was caused by a systemic distortion of the safety control results and gas contamination.
In the case of the accident at Listvyazhnaya, several people were arrested and convicted, including top managers of the SDS-Ugol holding, mine directors and representatives of Rostekhnadzor.
As it turned out, this is not the first accident at this mine. In January 1981, on “Listvyazhnaya” there was a drift accumulation methane explosion due to a short circuit in the headlight wire of the K-56MG combine, killing 5 people. And in October 2004, a mixture of methane and air exploded in the mine. 13 people died.
