“The fire occurred at a waste dump of hazard classes IV-V in the Talnakh (Norilsk) region. The dump is operated by the Baikal-2000 organization. The extinguishing is carried out by the fire and rescue team of the Emergencies Ministry, the owner of the landfill and other companies,” the regional prosecutor’s office said.
According to information from 11:30 local time, the area of the fire is 800 square meters. Data on the spread of fire and the state of the air in the immediate vicinity of the state of emergency are being specified.
Experts are trying to find out what happened. Employees of the prosecutor’s office will check compliance with environmental legislation in Taimyr, in particular, during the operation of the waste disposal facility. Experts will also have to assess the impact of pollutants on the ecosystem.
