The fuel oil spill occurred near the village of Pokrovka after the boiler house was flooded with water. Employees of the environmental prosecutor’s office determined that the cause of the contamination was a violation of the rules for the operation of thermal power plants.
“Petroleum products have contaminated the soil, water and infrastructure in an area of more than five hectares,” said the regional prosecutor’s office.
The Amur Basin Environmental Prosecutor delivered the audit material to the investigating authorities. Criminal cases have been initiated for negligence and violation of environmental protection regulations in the operation of industrial facilities.
