The department said that on Jan. 27, a 41-year-old man shot a Red Book animal in the forest and dismembered the carcass. Wanting to avoid responsibility for what he had done, he took parts of the tiger and abandoned them near the village of Yasenevy, where they were later found by police officers.

The court placed the defendant under house arrest for one month and seven days. The regional prosecutor’s office took over the criminal case for illegal hunting of a particularly valuable wild animal, belonging to a species included in the Red Book of the Russian Federation and protected by international treaties of the Russian Federation.
