The granddaughter of the missing woman filed a police report. A stranger called her and told her that the woman “is under her control” from her, and he will inform her about her whereabouts for three million rubles.
As law enforcement officers found out, on August 16, a scammer called the retiree. Posing as a police officer, he said that relatives were trying to take possession of the money in his account. To save money, the victim was offered to buy a mobile phone and tell the “police” the number, which he did.
The next day, the scammer contacted the woman again via cell phone and asked her to come to Vladivostok to transfer the savings to a secure account. A confident Primorchanka called a taxi. At the bank branch, she met with an unknown man and transferred two million rubles to the details indicated by him. The scammer then rented a hotel for the victim, where he spent two days.
“On August 19, the attacker called a taxi to take the woman to Ussuriysk, where she was later discovered by law enforcement officers,” says the website of the regional Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Investigative Committee.
Now all the circumstances of the incident are being established, witnesses are being questioned.
