The average duration of a job search in June for women was 6.3 months, for men – 5.9 months.
The proportion of unemployed who looked for work from 1 to 3 months has decreased. The average age of the unemployed was 37.8 years. Young people under 25 years of age constitute 21.0% of the unemployed, people 50 years of age or older, 22.4%.
The decline in unemployment in Russia to a new record low is due to the seasonal factor, experts from the All-Russian Labor Research Institute believe.
“In general, the demand for blue-collar workers, as well as engineers and IT specialists, remains high. In the service sector: during the Christmas season, the hospitality industry comes alive,” Dmitry Platygin, director of All- Russian Labor Research Institute, explained to Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
According to him, during the holiday season, the Jobs of Russia portal records an increase in offers with temporary employment for vacancies such as hotel administrator, guide, managers in the field of recreation. In March, the number of vacancies posted on job portals increased by 31.3% compared to February, and 9.7% in May compared to April.
As the director of the All-Russian Labor Research Institute explained, with low unemployment, a market of job seekers is formed, which contributes, among other things, to wage growth. Under such conditions, employers compete for candidates by increasing the salary offer for vacancies and retaining employees, even increasing salaries.
