In addition to the Stavropol Territory, the Arkhangelsk, Astrakhan, Ivanovo, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Oryol, Penza, Samara and Ulyanovsk regions, the Trans-Baikal Territory, the Republic of Adygea and Tyva will also receive money for glamping. The decision in this regard was announced at a meeting of the federal government chaired by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
– Glamping gives you the opportunity to relax in nature, but with the comforts of a hotel. The modular houses used are compact, not capital, which reduces the burden on the environment, said Vladimir Vladimirov. – With the support of the federal center, until the end of 2024 we will be able to install 175 modular houses with 300 beds in the Stavropol region. First of all, this format involves ecotourism, which is what we plan to develop with the help of glamping.

It is worth noting that 175 houses does not mean the same number of hotels. It’s more about the number of rooms. Sometimes they look like large tents, other times wooden chalets. Most of the time, glamping sites are located in nature, near some natural attractions or popular resorts.
Despite their abundance, there are still few modular hotels in the entire North Caucasus. In the same Stavropol Territory you can easily find information about only two. Both are located in the Caucasus Mineral Waters region. One is near the town of Lermontov, where you can combine relaxation with bathing and swimming in the lake. The other is far from the agglomeration, at the foot of Mount Camel. Its owners offer houses with views of the entire Caucasus mountain range and the CMV mountains. Other delights of outdoor recreation are included.
Glamping in the Chechen Republic appeared later than in the Stavropol region, although the republic seems to be rich in places to install modular hotels. But the first one opened there at the end of 2021. In the Vedeno district, near popular tourist places – the Khoy settlement and Lake Kezenoy-am, a complex of four large comfort class tents appeared. The project cost the investor approximately 10 million rubles.
Another “newcomer” in this matter is North Ossetia, which is also rich in natural attractions and secluded areas, perfect for relaxing. The only modular hotel Chillavi is located in the Tseysky Gorge, at an altitude of about 2100 meters above sea level, near the village of Abaytikau (about 80 kilometers from Vladikavkaz). He has already worked for two seasons. Owner Zaur Sikoev says business is good and there is demand.
– We started with glamping because it is fashionable and interesting. We were attracted by the idea of integrating ourselves with nature, being at the top of the mountain and doing business there. Glamping sites are ideal for this. In addition, its construction requires fewer resources. In general, from the moment the decision was made to the opening, a year and a half passed, taking into account that we could not build for about eight months due to weather conditions,” says Sikoev.
According to him, half of the guests are Muscovites, a third are residents of St. Petersburg, and the rest are from different regions of Russia. Families also come, but especially couples in love. Less common are older people or students. Mainly those who support themselves. There are many designers, IT specialists and entrepreneurs.
– Those who come to us repeat the phrase: “We have been to many places.” Now they travel through Russia. Glamping is chosen not because of fashion, but because they seek peace and tranquility. Even operating a lawnmower is a problem for us, because we don’t want to bother our guests,” says the businessman. – Today our glamping site is the only one in Ossetia. And in two seasons of work we have acquired a good reputation. But if other glamping sites appear in North Ossetia that do not offer the same level of service, this can also affect us. Conventional “Muscovites” will not notice what kind of glamping did not work as it should.
However, time will tell if there will be a glamping boom in the Caucasus. You don’t have to wait long. In 2023-2024, five regions of the North Caucasus Federal District (Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia and Chechnya) will receive 850 million rubles for the construction of modular hotels. In addition, Dagestan and North Ossetia will receive another 250 million rubles from the Russian Government’s reserve fund for prefabricated hotels. .

Dagestan, which has been experiencing a tourism boom for two years, unlike its neighbors, has long dominated the glamping business. Various types of the best modular hotels can be found on the Internet, which in turn suggests that there are many of them. Of course, the increasing number of tourists need accommodation somewhere.
In second place after Dagestan in terms of growth in tourist activity is the Stavropol region. And in the popular KMS resorts, almost all rooms have already been booked until the new year, as recently announced by local authorities.
