The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, Ivan Kubrakov, who spoke at the opening ceremony of the competition, especially highlighted that all special forces of the CIS countries take part in it. He thanked his colleagues who sent employees from his department to Minsk to participate in the tournament. “The main thing is that the fighters will have the opportunity to exchange experiences and make useful contacts. After all, professionals from all over our country have landed here,” he emphasized.
By the way, the history of the special police forces, the minister recalled, began 35 years ago. “It was then, in 1988, when criminal brigades abounded on the streets of many cities, that a unit with uncompromising and incorruptible fighters was needed. And it justified the trust by establishing order in the populated areas of the republic,” Kubrakov believes.
And these days, he said, when peace and order remain on the streets of Sineokaya, riot police are still needed. First of all, this structure personifies the presence of a force “that is ready to oppose evil.”
“We can say that OMON is, to a certain extent, a brand that has been preserved in Belarus and other CIS countries,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs summarized, in similar units, although with different names. , but the spirit of the fighters and the tasks ahead remain unchanged,” Kubrakov concluded.
