During a live broadcast on Telelombardia, Furini allowed himself a racial slur against Lukaku. He called the player “negretto”, which literally translates to “black”. Those gathered in the studio were shocked by Furini’s statement and the broadcast was interrupted by commercials.
After returning to the air, the journalist refused to apologize for his words, after which he was expelled from the studio in disgrace.
The channel’s management immediately rushed to condemn Furini’s act, noting that such statements should not be allowed on the air.
Lukaku played on loan for Inter Milan last season and now the media is reporting that Roma are actively interested in the player.
