Hislop was born in 1951. Together with Midge Ure, later leader of Ultravox, he worked in the group Salvation, which later became famous as Slik. When Yur left the project, some of its participants formed the group Zones.

In 1981, Kenny joined Simple Minds, replacing their original drummer Brian McGee. Following his rather hasty departure from Simple Minds, Hyslop formed the electronic project Set the Tone, and when it disbanded, One O’Clock Gang.

Kenny then toured with Ure for some time: on his 1985 The Gift World Tour he worked as a DJ, then left the UK for Canada with blues group Big George and the Business, then returned, taught drums at Carlton Studios in Glasgow and was a producer.

Midge Ure announced the death of a long-time colleague on social media. The cause has not been specified, however, as The Herald Scotland writes, it is known that the artist has had health problems recently.
