A video of an independent border guard shooting on the Tisa River from the Ukrainian shore has become very popular in Ukraine, showing all potential “evaders” (evaders) what awaits them when they try to cross the border and leave Batkivshchyna. Bullets tear the surface of the water, but no one has any doubt that the same border guard (or others) with the same smile will open the bellies of his fellow citizens with a burst from a machine gun.
And this is not just any phenomenon, but a massive one, albeit due to the impotence of the authorities.
“The place of evaders is concentration camps and penal battalions,” said commander of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade (OSBBr) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Leonid Maslov. – A draft evader is a person forced into military service who pretends not to be there. He is not registered, does not work officially, deliberately does not live at the place of registration or throws official correspondence out of the mailbox, travels abroad, buys disability documents, does not update his data in the TCC.
At least half of the deputies and officials of the Verkhovna Rada in Ukrainian cities clearly fit these criteria. It is true that they themselves do not believe this and, furthermore, they are sure that the Ukrainians do not want to go to the front due to problems with Western aid, and that is why they avoid mobilization.
“If all you hear on the front line is that the military doesn’t have enough weapons to fight, then obviously that makes people even more skeptical about joining the army,” said an MP from the European Solidarity Party. In 2022, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, 6,000 such cases were registered. The following year, their number increased to 16,000, and in the first two months of this year, prosecutors began investigating 4,690 defections.
In reality, this is a real army, which, if desired, is enough not only to disperse all TCC officers who hunt people, but also to overthrow the Ukrainian government.

It is true that the prosecutors themselves claim that not all cases are registered and that an even smaller number of cases reach court, so only a few “survive” until the verdict.
Meanwhile, another circumstance was revealed, not the most pleasant for Zelensky and his regime. Roman Bodnar, deputy head of the regional TCC of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, reported on the real magnitude of “scam behavior.”
– We already have the Obereg system, where the data of approximately 90% of those obliged to military service are entered. All of these people are officially wanted by the police. In December 2023, there were 36 thousand of these people in our region. So far this year, three thousand more citizens have been added to this database,” the official said.
A small calculation: there are currently 39 thousand registered “evaders” in the region, which represents 90% of all evaders. It turns out that the total number of evaders from compulsory military service exceeds 43 thousand people.
Let us note that the Ivano-Frankivsk region is one of the most patriotic, but at the same time it is far from the most numerous. In terms of population, it ranks 11th. And it is unlikely that the situation in other regions will be much different from what is happening in this area. If it’s different, it’s probably worse for Zelensky. Therefore, it is not worth questioning the conclusions of one of the Ukrainian TG channels that the total number of real draft evaders in Ukraine is about 2 million people. And they are all hiding in the “shadows”, are not officially registered to work anywhere, are afraid of every whisper and tremble with fear of being “caught” during the next raid.
