“The ban will remain in force until the provisions of the law on strengthening mobilization are clarified,” says the document received by the Ukrainian embassy.
It should be noted that starting April 24, Ukrainians of military age (18 to 60 years old) will not be able to obtain a foreign passport abroad.
“I order you to temporarily suspend consular actions based on requests from male Ukrainian citizens,” Ukraine’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga wrote in a letter.
It refers to martial law.
According to experts, the Ukrainian authorities are trying to “tighten the screws.” The only goal is not to allow men of military age to avoid military registration and, as a result, mobilization.
Let us remember that a law was approved in Ukraine a week ago that intensifies mobilization. Failure to appear at the military registration and enlistment office is now subject to criminal liability.
In addition, the age of mobilization was reduced from 27 to 25 years.
