MCD-4 “Kaluzhsko-Nizhegorodsky”: station layout, price, train intervals – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

Date: July 27, 2024 Time: 06:08:13

MCD-4 “Kaluzhsko-Nizhegorodsky” runs through the entire capital from west to east and connects the cities of Aprelevka and Balashikha in the Moscow region in the Zheleznodorozhnaya station area. But its main feature is that it connects seven Moscow railway stations: Kursky, Yaroslavsky, Kazansky, Leningradsky, Savelovsky, Rizhsky and Belorussky. It is estimated that its passenger traffic will be 600 thousand people per day, and around 30 million passengers per year will use the new railway line in the capital alone.

couple race

Recall that less than a month ago, on August 17, President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin inaugurated the MCD-3, which connects the capital Zelenograd and the city of Ramenskoye, near Moscow. The demand for this type of transport in the capital region is demonstrated by the fact that literally during the first day of operation of the third diameter, passengers made 350 thousand trips. This is 54 percent more than the previous week in the same direction. According to messages on social networks, it can be seen how eagerly Muscovites and residents of the Moscow region were waiting for the launch of the MCD-4. But some are incredulous: two projects of such magnitude in such a short time? But let us remember that the first two addresses MCD-1 and MCD-2 were opened on the same day, November 21, 2019.

The launch of MCD-3 and MCD-4 was in the plans of Russian Railways and the Moscow government for 2023-2024. Now we see that the plans were completed even earlier than planned.

From west to east in two hours

Now about what MCD-4 is:

The length is 86 kilometers; The entire route, from start to finish, can be traveled in just over two hours, specifically in 135 minutes.

There are 39 stations along the route:

Plus 44 transfers

Of the 39 stations, 18 are metro, MCC and other diameter interchange stations, providing passengers with 44 transfer options. The direction of the railway to Nizhny Novgorod, which until recently was the Gorky direction, is one of the busiest in the region. There are several large cities: Reutov, Balashikha, Zheleznodorozhny, Elektrougli, Elektrogorsk, Noginsk, Pavlovsky Posad, Orekhovo-Zuevo, Petushki… Most of its population goes to work in the capital. Passenger traffic in this direction exceeds 300 thousand people per day. But most of the trains still went only to the Kursky station and some to the Nizhegorodskaya station. Now Balashikha trains will not reach a dead end, as before, but on the MCD-4 track.

Then, parallel to the existing tracks of MCD-2 through the station “Ploshchad treh vokzal” (formerly “Kalanchevskaya”) and “Rizhskaya”, where a large transport hub is being built, trains will arrive at the station “Maryina Roshcha”. and then transfer to Savelovsky station. From here, through the Belorussky station, they will reach Kutuzovskaya, Poklonnaya and so on to Aprelevka, which will provide passengers with many transfer options along the entire route, saving time and money.

The Kaluga direction was also a dead end, previously the kyiv direction. Electric trains arriving from New Moscow and the Moscow region ended at the kyiv station and then passengers had to go down to the subway. Now they can travel further towards the Belorussky railway station and choose a more convenient transfer point.

Looking for a new connection

The difficulty of MCD-4 was that to open it it was necessary to connect two different directions of the Moscow railway: Kievskoye and Gorkovskoye. To do this, it was necessary to expand existing tracks and build new ones, as well as build new stations and rebuild old ones. In addition, a connecting branch line was built between the kyiv and Belarus directions, on which three new stopping points were built: Poklonnaya, Kutuzovskaya and Testovskaya.

How much does it cost to travel to MCD-4?

Passengers are always more concerned about the price of the trip. Its cost depends on the diameter zone: there are three, as on the routes already operating, on MCD-4: “Central”, “Suburb” and “Dalnyaya”.

“Central: from the stations Vnukovo to Reutov: with the “Wallet” fare of the Troika card, one ticket costs 50 rubles. To the MCC, metro and other diameters: free transfer in 90 minutes. Suburb: from “Aprelevka” to ” Lesnoy Gorodok” and from the Nikolskoye station to Zheleznodorozhnaya – with the “Wallet” tariff of the Troika card – 65 rubles. There is also the rule of free transfer in 90 minutes. “Dalnyaya” – everything that is located beyond the stations “Aprelevka” and “Zheleznodorozhny”. This means that 30 rubles are added to the Suburb ticket price for each additional zone. Many residents of the capital region have already calculated that even if they get to this very remote area, they will still save significantly in travel, since they now pay not only for the train, but also for transfers to the metro, MCC and other diameters, and with the launch of the MCD-4 the way by public transport to the final destination in the capital It will be free for them.

Stations with elevators and escalators.

On the basis of the former Kalanchevskaya station, a new transport hub, “Three Stations Square”, was opened in early June this year. Comfortable ticket offices, turnstiles at the exit of the platforms, toilets, rest areas, escalators… MCD-2 passengers are already making the most of it: the new station is designed for two diameters at the same time: MCD-2 and MCD-4, which are united by a common lobby. “The earliest date that the builders set for the realization of this project was the year 2025,” recalled Sergei Sobyanin during the inauguration of the “Three Seasons Square.” “From any point of view, the most difficult reconstruction of the railway infrastructure within the territory I think was ahead of one of the most complex cities in the world in the entire history of Moscow. And so they did it. A year and a half earlier than expected New tracks were built, essentially a new station, three flyovers, “Three flyovers. And all this in the center of Moscow, without blocking the movement of trains, subways or car traffic.” As a result, the largest railway transport systems in Moscow were united in one place: three central stations, two stations meter and two central diameters.

A transport hub no worse than the capital’s was built in Balashikha, at the Zheleznodorozhnaya station. Two new platforms, 16 escalators, 8 elevators – the largest in the Moscow region. Two more platforms will open later. In 2020, a new stop was created in Sanino and the stations in Pobeda, Michurinets and Krekshino were put in order. A little later, in 2021, the Vnukovo, Aprelevka, Kokoshkino, Matveevskaya stops were rebuilt and the Aminevskaya station was built. In 2022, builders completed the first stage of construction of the new Minskaya stop and rebuilt Tolstopaltsevo. Lesnoy Gorodok, Ochakovo, Maryina Roshcha opened in 2023. The new Serp and Molot platform for the MCD-2 and MCD-4 lines is currently being built, where the Moscow-Tovarnaya station will be moved.

movement intervals

Unlike other diameters, where service intervals are 5 to 6 minutes, MCD-4 trains will run every three minutes during peak hours.

flight of the orioles

It is planned to replace all rolling stock of the new diameter with modern electric trains between six months and one year old. Basically, comfortable Orioles produced at the Tver Machine-Building Plant will be released. With soft seats equipped with chargers for phones and other gadgets, with spaces equipped for bicycles and scooters. These carriages have free WI-FI. Intelligent lighting: The light is bright in the morning and quieter at night. The average age of all rolling stock of all diameters in Moscow is 6.5 years. Over the next year, under the direction of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, it will be greatly reduced by renovation to 1.5-2 years old, so that it can then operate for decades.

On departure, the Oriole 4.0 is already even more comfortable. Its main difference from the usual trains for Muscovites is an additional third door in each carriage, which will allow passengers to get on and off much faster, which means less time spent on the entire trip.

Everyone wins, including motorists

According to experts, the launch of MCD-4 will free up several metropolitan metro lines that are currently overloaded. In particular, the load will be reduced on the sections of the Solntsevskaya, Filevskaya, Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya, Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya, Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya and Kalininskaya metro lines. Muscovites living in its area of influence will move to the surface metro; this can be predicted from the experience of the first diameters. Kievskoye, Borovskoye, Nosovikhinskoye and Entuziastov highways will be freer.

Traveling on the nearest highways (Novoryazanskoye, Leningradskoye, Novoyegoryevskoye, Kosinskoye and Yegoryevskoye) will also be more comfortable.
