Shor was sentenced in Moldova to 15 years in prison in a case involving the withdrawal of a billion dollars from the banking system. He does not admit guilt and links the authorities’ persecution to his opposition activities.

In mid-May, Shor announced that he had received a Russian passport. At the same time, Moldovan President Maia Sandu announced her willingness to deprive politicians Vladimir Plahotniuc and Ilan Shor of citizenship, as well as all compatriots who support Russia in the conflict in Ukraine.
