In the near future, the All-Russian Research and Design Institute of Metallurgical Engineering (VNIIMETMASH) complex on Ryazansky Prospekt in the south-east of Moscow will become a large-scale film and media cluster.

“There are quite a few pavilions in Moscow, but there are very few high-tech pavilions,” Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said today, July 7, during an inspection of the future filming site. “And there are practically no pavilions of the highest level, modern, that use the latest filming technologies.”

The mayor specified that new technologies are needed to develop Moscow cinema and increase its competitiveness.

“We can do this,” Sobyanin emphasized. We do this in all industries. Why not make it into a movie?

Pavilions with a full-cycle film production infrastructure created on the basis of VNIIMETMASH will become part of a single three-site film group. It includes, among other things, the Moskino film park in Krasnaya Pakhra, designed for outdoor shooting on location, as well as the recreation of the Gorky film studio. The mayor explained that each of them will complement each other and provide synergy.

Some of them will also house offices of film companies, coworking, a materials and design center for the fashion industry, a film museum, a film school and a projection room. Specialists from the film industry will be trained on the sets, including professions such as second director, props, editing director, decorator, lighting designer, camera mechanic and others;
