According to the publication, the incident occurred at the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa in Chester. Staff discovered about 50 ornamental koi missing from two ponds on site.
Thanks to the cameras it was possible to establish that the otter had stolen the fish. In addition, the electrical networks, which were supposed to protect the carp from the herons, did not save them from the otter.
The cost of each fish reaches 2.5 thousand dollars. Thus, the hotel’s losses amounted to more than 126 thousand dollars.
A spokesperson for the company that owns it said the hotel is now trying to find a way out to avoid further losses, as the tents were not only decoration but also a “major investment”.
