This was stated by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ Kirill after the all-night vigil in the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra.
– Tomorrow I will not be able to be in this temple and in the Lavra precisely because in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior we will pray before the returned image of the Holy Trinity. Then, during the year, the miraculous image will be in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior so that Muscovites and guests of the capital can bow to this great shrine. And then this image will return here, to the holy temple to a historical place, – said the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.
A masterpiece of Old Russian painting, the icon “Holy Trinity” or “Abraham’s Hospitality” was painted by Andrei Rublev in the 15th century for the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, where it was located until the 1920s. In 1929, the icon was transferred to the Tretyakov Gallery. In May, the President of Russia signed a decree on the transfer of the “Trinity” to the Russian Orthodox Church.
