In the absence of new ideas, Russian filmmakers continue to revive and refilm well-known Soviet hits. And along with the films “Flint”, “At the Command of the Pike” and others, viewers will soon be able to enjoy another version of “The Town Musicians of Bremen”, which “KP” wrote about last year.

A troupe of street musicians – Cat (Irina Gorbacheva), Donkey (Dmitry Dyuzhev), Dog (Roman Kurtsyn) and Rooster (Askar Nigamedzyanov) – confronts the lively Troubadour (Tikhon Zhiznevsky) to perform with him in the squares (the main character plays the electric guitar), and also participates in the intrigues of the royal court (Sergei Burunov plays the King).

Of course, there will be no love story: the capricious princess (Valentina Lyapina) will be interested in the reckless and rootless troubadour, and not in the one whom her despotic and comical father presents as a suitor.

And there will be chases too: the role of Leon Trotsky’s brilliant, eagle-eyed, leather-caped detective was taken on by Konstantin Khabensky. He receives messages by pigeon mail about the brazen company of musicians and personally informs the King of his whereabouts.
