Petersburg to introduce a resort fee

The Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, signed a law on the introduction of a resort fee in the city – the innovation will come into force on October 1, 2023. The deputy governor of St. Petersburg, Alexei Korabelnikov, explained that the introduction of a zero rate is “a necessary transition period to organize preparatory measures for both authorities and companies.”

The funds received will be used for the “development of tourism infrastructure in order to preserve, restore and develop tourist complexes, form a unique tourist space and create favorable conditions for the sustainable development of tourism.”

More than 20 categories of citizens will be exempt from payment. These include those who constantly work and have housing in St. Petersburg, families with many children, participants in the Great Patriotic War, veterans of military operations.
