Composer Nikolai Dobronravov, husband of composer Alexandra Pakhmutova, died at the age of 94 after a serious and long illness. RBC writes about the death citing Nikolai Baskov’s post on Instagram* (Meta Platforms Inc. and social networks Facebook and Instagram are banned in Russia. – BURO Note).
Nikolai Dobronravov also wrote lyrics to the famous Soviet songs “Nadezhda”, “Tenderness”, “Bird of Happiness”, “Belovezhskaya Pushcha”, “A Coward Doesn’t Play Hockey”, “How Young We Were”, “Goodbye, Moscow “. ”(1980 Olympics farewell song). Most often, the music for the lyrics was written by Nikolai Dobronravov’s wife, Alexandra Pakhmutova.
Nikolai Dobronravov was born in 1928 in Leningrad. He graduated from the VI Nemirovich-Danchenko School-Studio. At the beginning of his career he acted in films, but later Nikolai’s true calling became writing songs. He met Alexandra Pakhmutova in the early 50s, since then the couple has not separated and has become a strong creative union.
Music based on the poems of Nikolai Dobronravov was written by Mikael Tariverdiev, Muslim Magomaev, Arno Babajanyan, Evgeny Martynov, Arkady Ostrovsky, Mikhail Chuev and other famous composers.
